About the Artist

Aaima Azhar is a Pakistani-Canadian author, spoken word poet, artist, and award-winning filmmaker from Edmonton , Alberta. Her co-directed films based on poetry written by her, Muhajir and Khalil, won "Best Local Film' at the 2019 and 2022 Mosquers Film Festival.

Aaima's bestselling debut poetry collection, A Thing With Teeth, is available on multiple platforms such as Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and Indigo.  ​She is a University of Alberta Psychology graduate and currently works as a Mental Health Capacity Building Wellness Coach, and a community connnector. Her work has touched  hearts across the globe, and she hopes to grow flowers with her art in all the places it may reach. ​
